Purpose: The Commonwealth Carer Respite and Carelink Centre provides information support and advice to carers. Carers are unpaid people who care for family members or friends who are frail aged, have a disability, chronic condition or mental illness. The CCRC assists Carers with organising emergency, or short term planned respite in a variety of settings that suit the Carer and the care recipient. The Carer Respite Centre explores options with Carers to assist them to take a break from the caring role by providing information regarding respite options and assistance with the cost of respite, providing Carers with the networks of support and after hours service in times of crisis or emergency via freecall number. The CCRC also has specific projects focusing on Young Carers / Mental Health including: Intellectual, Aspergers, Autism and Carers of Children with Severe and Profound disabilities.
