Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse - ASCA

Mon Tue Wed and Fri 9am to 5pm, Thurs 9am to 1pm. Provide information, support and advocacy for survivors of child abuse. To raise public awareness about child abuse. To educate the media and government departments. Referrals - 18 years and over. Survivors of child abuse or friends, partners, family, therapists, community workers or professionals working with survivors or victims of child abuse. There will be no more support groups after 31 Dec 2008. These are being replaced by 20 workshops. Existing support groups will become social groups for existing members.

DOCS Helpline All reports must go through the DOCS Helpline and are handled by specialised Child Protection Staff. Statutory responsibility for assessment of allegations of abuse/ill-treatment of children under 16 and young people over 16. Support and advocacy for children aged under 16 and their parents. Work with community partners & the community to help protect and care for children. Develop plans with community partners to ensure that vulnerable families and individuals have access to a range of community services. Provide and monitor care and support for children who can't live with their their families.
